United Nations holds Holocaust memorial ceremony in New York City

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and the Permanent Representatives of Germany, Israel and the United States to the United Nations are expected to take part in a ceremony at the UN headquarters in New York City on Monday, January 27, that will mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

During World War II at least 1.1 million people, of whom about 90 percent were Jews, were killed at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
