Full `buck moon’ illuminates night sky over New York City

United States, New York

Ruptly is live from New York City on Sunday, July 5, where the July full moon, also known as the ‘buck moon' in US English, can be seen in the sky. The phenomenon occurs when the moon is located on the opposite side of Earth to the sun.

The full moon will mark the first one of the summer and was named `buck’ as early summer is normally when the new antlers of buck deer push out of their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur.
