Mexico: Pilgrims bow down to Saint of Death in Tepatepec

August 20, 2017 at 03:24 (GMT) · Published

Hundreds of believers flocked to Tepatepec, Saturday, on a pilgrimage in honour of the saint of death 'Santa Muerte'.

Hundreds of devotees lined up to pray to Santa Muerte's local shrine, hailing her with thanks for past wishes that she had granted. Others crawled to the foot of the statue, where they prayed for her to fulfill new desires.

Worship of Holy Death is most prevalent in districts torn by drug wars; with policemen, drug dealers, soldiers and criminals being known to pray to the saint as they ask for her protection from death.
