Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said upcoming NATO military exercises, which are planned for October-November this year ‘have a clear anti-Russian tendency,” during her weekly press-conference in Moscow, Thursday.

“We can see more and more intense and large-scale exercises being carried out by our borders, particularly in October-November in Norway and the Baltic Sea and in the Northern Atlantic region, the most large-scale NATO military exercises for the last 16 years are planned.” She said, adding “this demonstrates the force potential in close vicinity of our borders and has a clear anti-Russian tendency,” she said.

Talking about the Maria Butina case, the spokesperson said the Russian side still has no explanation why she was relocated last week. Zakharova also said that “the US Justice Ministry has not provided any, even indirect, evidence of the guilt of Russian citizen Maria Butina, except for incoherent messages on social media.”

Butina was detained on July 15, 2018 on charges of conspiring against the US government in favour of Russia and for failing to register as a foreign agent.
