Chief Nazi-hunter and Simon Wiesenthal Center Director Efraim Zuroff stated during the interview from Jerusalem, that the holocaust denial should be treated as antisemitism.

"Why do people do it? It is basically a new form of anti-Semitism, because imagine what would happen if it turns out that the Holocaust did not happen. Obviously, there would be a very bad situation for the Jewish people all over the world," he said describing Holocaust deniers.

Zuroff went on speaking of the consequences of Holocaust denial leads to, adding that to prevent a similar tragedy from ever happening in the future, two steps should be made.

"The leaders in the world, the political leaders in every country have to make clear that this is fact that this happened and this has very important consequences for their country as well. Then there is the question of the educational system: in other words, this is the subject that has to be taught in the school curriculum at the proper age and be done effectively with the best technological and other educational aids," Zuroff said.

On January 27 1945 Soviet Union army liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland, where at least 1.1 million people were killed by Nazis. This day is commemorated as the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
