SOT, Walter Cotte, IFRC Americas Regional Director: "We are present in Venezuela through the Venezuelan Red Cross. That is a national entity composed by 2,600 volunteers. And we are present in all the states in the country by having a network of 33 clinics and eight hospitals that are working very well and trying to serve more with lacking resources, lacking medicaments, and the situation in Venezuela is of course a big demand of support in health, in foods and in security for the population."

SOT, Walter Cotte, IFRC Americas Regional Director: "We have broadened our presence in the country that was just, you know, extended in the last weeks. We were working with five million dollars on different kinds of services, first aid, health and livelihoods especially. Now we are expanding all the operation to 30 million and waiting for the support of our donors and son of the people that is helping us outside Venezuela. Also of course trying to coordinate well and complement with other actions that are happening in the country."

SOT, Walter Cotte, IFRC Americas Regional Director: "The most challenging matter by now is of course the lack of resources that we have and the need to have more comprehension about the independent, neutral and impartial role of entities like us, Red Cross. We are there to serve the human beings regardless [of] any kind of agenda, ideological or political or religious. We are there playing our role in the way that is necessary to be played, serving the people that are suffering and we need to expand and increase our power of service in [the] country by working with other actors that are focused on health, livelihoods, nutrition and really saving the people's lives and improving the security of people."

SOT, Walter Cotte, IFRC Americas Regional Director: "We are really focused on creating more capacities, expanding our capacities with it at first step by doing the 30 million dollars call and by the appeal. And we will be focused on that first, to go for it and see how we can complete this initial offer, but we will be working very heavily to expand more our presence in [the] country, following the needs that are there and understanding the problematic, that is caused by different situations in Venezuela. We are going to be there supporting the national society of Venezuelan Red Cross, supporting the communities for a longer time. We are not withdrawing our presence, instead of that we are expanding and growing our presence in Venezuela."
