UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen spoke discussed the settlement of the long lasting Syrian conflict and the need to rebuild Syrian society on the sidelines of the 12 intra-Syrian talks in Nur-Sultan on Thursday.
"I will not go into any discussion on who is to be blamed for the destruction in Syria. I think what we need to agree on is that there is a need to rebuild trust in Syrian society, to bring the Syrian communities together again and then to rebuild the country in a manner so that the refugees can come back and that the IDPs can come back," said Pedersen.
The two-day Syrian talks are attended by representatives of the Syrian government, Syrian opposition, and the Syrian ceasefire guarantor countries, as well as observers from the UN and Jordan.
