Iraq: Kurdish woman aims for international bodybuilding stardomMay 20, 2019 at 14:05 (GMT) · Published
Dilkhosh Abdullah, a female bodybuilder from Ranya in Iraqi Kurdistan, has been collecting medals and prizes from regional competitions, hoping to make it big on the international scene.
Footage shot on Monday shows her training routine, consisting of an hour to an hour and a half of various weight lifting and body weight exercises.
"Some elderly men often ask me where I train and tell me they want their families to join me. I get comments like that from time to time," said Abdullah, who started bodybuilding two and a half years ago, following her childhood dream.
Her coach, Rawa Abdulrahman, said, "she has a bright future ahead of her if, God willing, she participates in international championships."
She has won three prizes for women in the Iraqi Kurdistan, including one at the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) Professional League Erbil international championship in 2019.
