Argentina: Nicaragua crushed 5-1 as Argentina warm up for Copa America

Argentina, San Juan

The Argentinian men's national football team head coach Lionel Scaloni said his team has good chances in the upcoming Copa America if they play at their best, while speaking at a press conference after Argentina crushed Nicaragua 5-1 in friendly game, in San Juan, on Friday.

"[Playing] a good Cup is to compete at our best at every game, to make everyone feel proud so that when the match ends people can say that the national team played a good one, and certainly if a good game is played, Argentina for sure wins," he said.

In the last warm-up ahead of the tournament, Argentina's star captain Lionel Messi scored two goals in two minutes, while Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez also scored twice, followed by Roberto Pereyra who added a fifth ahead of Nicaragua's consolation goal from a 91st minute penalty.

"There are many things to improve, to oil, I think the important thing is that we have a week of work and we need to try to get the best way, I think we have to get even better physically and on the evening of the first game to arrive and get a victory," commented centre-back Nicolas Otamendi.

Argentina will open their Copa America campaign against Colombia in Salvador, Brazil, on June 15.
