UK: India and NZ 'prepared to play' amidst fear of washout in Cricket World CupJune 12, 2019 at 17:27 (GMT) · Published
The Indian and New Zealand cricket teams put in an intense day of practice session under overcast conditions in Nottingham on Wednesday, a day before the might of Indian batting clashes with the bowling prowess of the Kiwi attack at the Trent Bridge cricket ground.
New Zealand is on top of the points table, even as India finds itself number three and is keen to pocket the two winning points which looks dicey, with rain expected to play spoilsport. India is also struggling with an injury blow to star batsman Shikhar Dhawan, who has been ruled out of the game.
Giving an update on his injury, Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar said that "we do not want to rule out a precious player like Shikhar straight at the time of the impact when the injury happens, so we would like to wait and assess after 10-12 days".
The ICC Cricket World Cup is being hosted by England and Wales from 30 May to 14 July 2019.
