Germany: Merkel stresses 'peaceful solution' in Yemen during UAE Crown Prince's visit to Berlin

On the second day of a two day visit to Germany, German Chancellor Angela Merkel welcomed the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan at the Chancellery in Berlin on Wednesday.

Addressing the media before a private dinner between the two allies, Merkel highlighted the joint commitment to solving escalating tensions in the region especially surrounding the 2015 Iran nuclear deal following Washington's withdrawal earlier this year, saying that "even when the United Arab Emirates and Germany have a partly different opinion, our willingness unites us to achieve peaceful solutions.''

The visit comes against the backdrop of celebrating 15 years of a Strategic Partnership, which has seen trade between the two nations grow to $13.45 billion (€12 billion) in 2017, making UAE the largest Arab trading partner of Germany.
