United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi addressed the press in Berlin on Wednesday, presenting his office's annual Global Trends report on 2018 forced displacement.

Speaking on the eve of the Refugee Day, Grandi announced that the global number of refugees and internally displaced people around the world is over 70 million people, up 2.3 million from last year.

"Between 80 and 90 percent of these 70 million are not in rich countries, they are in poor countries," stressed Grandi, adding that Syria continues to be "the largest refugee displacement crisis in the world."
