USA: Hundreds attend vigil for El Paso shooting victims
Hundreds of people gathered to pay their respects to the victims of a mass shooting in El Paso, Texas on Sunday. Religious leaders from various confessions as well as US presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke were among those attending the vigil.
"I saw people getting shot. And my first reaction as a military wife was to act and save people. I exited people out from the back as fast as I can as the shooter was getting closer. And also my mother was there. And I also told her to not panic and just breathe'', said one of survivors from stage.
Another attendant spoke about the victims of the shooting: "Miss Marquez was here shopping at Walmart to purchase supplies for her students in Juarez when she lost her life. And another young man aged 13 who's a student of Clint ISD was also back-to-school shopping when he was tragically murdered yesterday in this act of violence and racism and hatred."
On Saturday, police arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of opening fire at a Walmart store killing 20 people including at least six Mexican nationals.
