USA: Messi-less Argentina warm up ahead of LA friendly against Chile

United States, Los Angeles

Argentine stars including Paulo Dybala, Nicolas Otamendi and Giovani Lo Celso trained with their compatriots in Los Angeles on Tuesday ahead of their upcoming clash with fierce rivals Chile.

Due to his comments regarding refereeing decisions during the 2019 Copa America, captain Lionel Messi was handed a three month ban from international football by CONMEBOL on 2 August.

That tournament hosted the last meeting between the two rivals with the third place play-off seeing Argentina beat Chile 2-1.

"It's a great opportunity but we have to bring everything we possibly can to the table," said Lazio striker Joaquin Correra as he and others spoke with positivity about the game.

Lucas Martinez Quarta of River Plate added before his potential international debut: "I don't know if in the end we're going to win. I want to contribute to my country's team, to add something."

The game takes place on 5 September at 7pm local time (06/09 02:00 GMT) at the LA Memorial Coliseum.
