Lebanon: 'No more red lines' in resistance against Israel - Nasrallah

Lebanon, Beirut
September 10, 2019 at 12:00 GMT +00:00 · Published

Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said there would be no more red lines that his group would not cross to defend Lebanon from future Israeli aggression, speaking to thousands of people gathered for an Ashura procession in Beirut's southern suburb of Dahiyeh on Tuesday.

"If Lebanon is attacked by any kind of aggression that constitutes an attack, there will be an appropriate response in order to defend the people of Lebanon, the sovereignty of Lebanon, the security of Lebanon, the dignity of Lebanon," Nasrallah told the crowd. "There will be no more red lines, this is over," the Hezbollah leader added.

Nasrallah also touched down on his group stating it shot down an Israeli drone in Lebanon, saying "the Lebanese have failed the latest Israeli attempt to change the rules of engagement in place since 2006."

On Monday, Hezbollah said it downed and captured an Israeli drone near the southern Lebanese town of Ramyah, one week after Hezbollah and the Israeli army exchanged fire along the border.

Tensions between Hezbollah and Israel have flared up since a reported Israeli drone attack against Beirut on August 25.
