Germany: Mercedes-Benz, BMW reveal futuristic concepts at Frankfurt Motor Show

German car makers Mercedes-Benz and BMW officially unveiled their new futuristic concepts at the Frankfurt Motor Show on Tuesday.

"We created this wonderful Vision EQS which is kind of vision for the future of an electric-driven limousine in the, let's say, S-class segment. It's a future luxury lookout into our next coming generation of luxury limousines and sedans," said Staffen Koehl, Mercedes-Benz Director of Advanced Exterior Design.

Sales of Vision EQS are expected to begin in 2021 with a broad level of power and performance options.

Mercedes-Benz's old rival BMW presented its own futuristic concept - the Vision M Next. The impressive sports car is powered by a hybrid engine that allows the driver to switch between electric and petrol power. The Vision M Next which debuted in June offers a combined 592 horsepower, goes from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3 seconds with a 300 km/h (186 mph) top speed.
