A convoy of buses carrying dozens of Syrian refugees, many claiming to flee the hardships of living in Turkey, left Istanbul's Esenyurt Municipality for Syria on Tuesday.

The transport of refugees is reportedly facilitated by the Esenyurt municipality, who are said to prepare the travel permits and cover the travel expenses of those returning to their homeland.

"Life is really tough here. I have three children, and one salary isn’t enough for us," said Ahmed, stating that he also he had not seen his parents in seven years.

"I have three children. My salary isn't enough for us and for our rent and utility bills. This is why we decided to come back to Syria," said another refugee, Ahmed Taleb.

Kemal Deniz Bozkurt, the Mayor of Esenyurt municipality, explained that a total of 1,127 refugees have returned to Syria, over the course of four months, with the officials' help. "In the former mayor's period, approximately 5,000 Syrian refugees had been sent back to their country," he added.
