SOT Michael Schmidt, President of BCCG (German): "On the one hand, there is the fact that uncertainty is very bad for companies, I explained that, because decisions on investment and employment are postponed. On the other hand, we think the negative effects of a no-deal Brexit will be so serious, that a postponement is reasonable.''

SOT Michael Schmidt, President of BCCG (German): "It's not a beautiful thing. I would be grateful, if we would get a deal, get an agreement before October 31st. That would be the best solution for sure, but I doubt that.''

SOT Michael Schmidt, President of BCCG (German): "I am quite disappointed with the controversial way discussions are being held in the British Parliament, with comprehensible reasons, [and] that they are not able anymore to do what basically has been common practice and was being done for centuries: to find a reasonable compromise.''

SOT Andreas Glunz, Chairman of BCCG of Rhine-Main region (German): "For me this is an example of [out]lived political democracy. I have to say the development in the last two years is very surprising. I didn't expect to get a prolongation, to still sit here today not knowing the final result.''

SOT, Andreas Glunz, Chairman of BCCG of Rhine-Main region (German): "Last spring we published and presented a study of the British Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the KPMG, that said that about half of the German companies were prepared for Brexit. This is supported by current poll numbers of the British Chamber of Commerce in UK. Even today, 41 percent of UK companies are not prepared for a Brexit.''
