Argentina: 'If the Amazon were a bank, you would have saved it' - Buenos Aires joins climate strike
Thousands of people joined the global climate strike in the Buenos Aires on Friday, demanding action from government.
According to the protest organisers, more than 6,000 people participated in the demonstration, marching from the city's Plaza de Mayo square to the Argentine Congress building.
Some demonstrators carried banners, placards and inscriptions reading "We are the future but we take care of the present", "Water is worth more than gold" and "If the Amazon were a bank, you would have saved it," among others.
"The climate crisis is something that the scientific community endorses, it is not something that young people take to the streets because they feel like it," said protester Nahuel Zamudio.
Similar protests reportedly took place in some 30 municipalities across Argentina.
