Viral homeless opera singing sensation Emily Zamourka performed at the grand opening of the New Little Italy ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday, for the first time after being discovered by a police officer in a Los Angeles subway station.

The Russian musician sang an aria from Italian opera composer Giacomo Puccini and thanked the attendees for their support. "This is a great feeling to be here standing in front of you", she said. After the event, the 52-year old recognised that she "even forgot the words while I was singing". "I was too nervous but I made it through", the singer added.

Grammy-nominated producer Joel Diamond, who has offered her the chance to record an album, assured that "she will just go right to the top of the charts." "I have faith and confidence in her and I know I'll be able to produce a hit record with her," Diamond concluded.

Zamourka became homeless around 2017 after someone broke her violin while performing on the street and therefore preventing her from earning a living.
