Japan: China backlash 'not a distraction' - Houston Rockets star James Harden

Houston Rockets star James Harden said backlash from China "was not a distraction" during a press conference in the Japanese city of Saitama on Tuesday, after the Rockets lost 134-129 to the Toronto Raptors in an NBA pre-season game.

"It's not a distraction, you know, we are focusing on our team in getting better," Harden said. "Tonight was a great start for us."

"I thought it was an entertaining game, a lot of offense out there, a lot of three-point shots, a lot of scoring, it was a pretty entertaining game for the fans," said Toronto Raptors Head Coach Nick Nurse about Tuesday's game.

International controversy surrounded the tweet of Rockets' General Manager Daryl Morey supporting the anti-government protests in Hong Kong.

While Morey apologised for his now-deleted tweet in support of Hong Kong's "fight for freedom," Chinese companies and networks including state-run television network CCTV, streaming service Tencent and online shopping giant Alibaba suspended NBA broadcasts and product listings on Tuesday, after Silver voiced his support for the Houston Rockets general manager's "freedom of expression."
