
Austria: Eliud Kipchoge makes history by finishing marathon in under two hours
Kenyan long-distance runner Eliud Kipchoge made history in Vienna on Saturday by completing a marathon in under two hours.
Aided by a team of pacemakers and a vehicle projecting a laser grid onto the road to prevent him from losing ground Kipchoge crossed the finish line with a historic time of 1hour 59 minutes 40 seconds.
"I am the first man to run under two hours, in order to inspire many people, to tell people that no human is limited, you can do it," Kipchoge said after crossing the finish line.
He went on to express his expectation that athletes from all over the world' should match his under-two hour time.
