Colombia: Fans ecstatic as Ronaldinho plays farewell game for Santa Fe

Fans greeted the arrival of Brazilian footballing legend Ronaldinho to the El Campin stadium in Bogota on Thursday as he prepared to take the field for the first leg of his last hurrah in professional football.

Supporters set off fireworks as a bus carrying Ronaldinho's team for the day, Independiente Santa Fe, arrived at the ground ahead of kick off. Santa Fe took on Nacional de Medellin in a friendly match they went on to win by two goals to nil.

During the game the 39-year-old Ronaldinho rolled back the years with a no-look pass that split the opposition defence and allowed team-mate Jose Luis Caicedo to roll the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net.

The Brazilian legend will next travel to Cali for a final game before departing the country in five days' time.

A native of Porto Alegre, Ronaldinho dominated world football in a sparkling career which took him to some of Europe's biggest clubs - Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Barcelona.

He is considered one of the sport's all-time greats, being just one of eight players to have won the World Cup, Champions League and Ballon d'Or.
