Hong Kong: Anti-government protesters rally against alleged police brutality

Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region of China, Hong Kong

Anti-government protesters rallied against alleged police brutality in Hong Kong on Friday.

"There's a lot of people who died in this event," said a protester. "And we want the government to respond to our five major demands and hopefully to stop this major problem in Hong Kong right now."

Footage shows protesters and marching with banners calling for the disbandment of police. Footage also shows protesters holding the picture of deceased 15-year old Chan Yin-lam, whose dead body was found at sea on September 22 and who according to the police committed suicide. This conclusion was reportedly questioned by an anti-government newspaper due to circumstances around the body’s discovery.

Since March, Hong Kong has been rocked by demonstrations sparked by a planned, but now-withdrawn extradition bill. The rallies have evolved into a movement with wider grievances against the Hong Kong administration.
