Footage shows the beautiful moment a gyrfalcon hatches out. The same falcon was later given as a gift to Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The footage was released by the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology on Thursday, October 17.

Falcons have been crucial animals for hunting in the Arabian Peninsula for a long time, and now falconry is considered a popular sport in Saudi Arabia.

Therefore, the rare falcon was presented to the Saudi King by Putin. The Russian president had given another falcon as a present to the Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology explained that the falcons had “passports” and all the “required documents” and added, that both falcons were bred in Kamchatka Russian Falcon Centre together with the team of the Russian-Kyrgyz Centre “Muras.”

The ministry noted that “The place of birth in the passport is indicated by the Russian-Kyrgyz nursery "Muras.”

Russian Kamchatka Falcon Centre, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and the funding of Roscongress, is implementing a project to create a network of nurseries for the reproduction and conservation of rare falcon species, after a fall in the number of falcons in the last decades.

The gyrfalcon is considered as the largest of falcons in the world, and they are highly valued for their speed and hunting skills as they regularly win in hunting competitions. According to the ministry, the two birds represent the best gene pool of Kamchatka gyrfalcons.
