China: 'There are no limits' - Visitors experience Winter Olympics with VR

Visitors of the International High-Tech Expo were able to get a taste of the 2022 Beijing Winter Games through technologies, including virtual reality (VR), in the Chinese capital on Thursday.

Visitors were seen taking VR headsets for a spin and immersing themselves into various games, taking advantage of technologies that will reportedly be used in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

Egemen Ertugrul, the designer behind the winter sports VR system, explained that these games can "educate" people, as "winter sports are not as well-known as summer sports."

"You can actually put yourself in any environment you want through VR. There are no limits. So this is just one of the examples we see today, just the winter sports. It can be about any sports," he added.

Robots operating facial recognition software that will be put to use in the Winter Games were also on display.

The high-tech expo will be open to visitors until October 27.
