South Africa's national rugby team kicked off their trophy tour in Pretoria on Thursday, after winning the Rugby World Cup. The team then went to Johannesburg, where it was also met by excited crowds of fans.

"We thank you for having, for being the catalyst that can ensure that we continue to build our nation. You are the first diverse team that has won the cup in Asia for our nation," said South African President Cyril Ramaphosa during the celebrations in Pretoria.

Thousands of people cheered for their team wearing the team's uniforms and waving South African flags while the squad paraded through the streets on their victory bus.

South Africa's Springboks defeated England 32-12 on November 2. Their triumph continues a habit of winning the competition every 12 years after victories for the Boks back in 1995 and 2007.

South Africa now shares the record for most World Cup wins alongside New Zealand.
