Hong Kong: Protesters hold vigil for fallen student Alex Chow Tze-lok

A candle-lit vigil commemorated 22-year-old Alex Chow Tze-lok in Tamar Park on Saturday after the student succumbed to injuries following his fall in a car park during a protest on Monday.

Mourners laid flowers and lit candles next to the victim's photograph.

Secretary-General of pro-democracy party Demosisto Joshua Wong addressed the crowd saying, "I didn't even think that a cheer-up assembly would become a memorial gathering. If there's justice, I believe that God will observe his duty."

Alex Chow Tsz-lok, a student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, died on Friday after suffering a fall from a multi-storey parking lot as he was allegedly fleeing tear gas dispersed by the police during a weekend protest.

Hong Kong has been rocked by protests sparked by a now-withdrawn extradition bill since March. The rallies have since evolved into a wider movement against the government, marked by months of clashes between protesters and the authorities.
