USA: 'Kangaroo court' - Trump blasts impeachment inquiry

United States, Washington DC
November 19, 2019 at 22:17 GMT +00:00 · Published

US President Donald Trump called the impeachment inquiry a "kangaroo court" and praised Republican lawmakers saying that "Republicans are absolutely killing it," speaking during a cabinet meeting at the White House in Washington DC on Tuesday.

Trump also placed responsibility for the delay of the signing of the USMCA agreement on the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi calling her "grossly incompetent" and saying that "I have pretty good authority on it, that she is using USMCA because she doesn't have the impeachment votes."

When asked about the credibility of Lieutenant Colonel Vindman, an aide to Vice President Mike Pence who testified during the impeachment hearing, the US president said: "I don't know Vindman at all."

He added: "All these people are talking about that they heard a conversation of a conversation of another conversation that was had by the president. What is going on is a disgrace and it is an embarrassment to our nation and in the meantime we can't get USMCA approved because Nancy Pelosi is grossly incompetent."

The president is alleged to have asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to find damaging information on the business dealings of Hunter Biden, the son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, during the call. Hunter Biden was on the board of a Ukrainian gas company between 2014 and 2019.
