India: 'Toxic' white foam carpets Chennai beach
White foam covered Marina beach in Chennai on Monday, after building up over the last four days.
Children were laying in the fluffy suds, despite the water's black smell, an acrid smell and warnings from doctors.
Build-up of discharge occurs every monsoon season, although this year has been particularly bad. Rains carry untreated sewage to the sea creating a toxic mix.
The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board is reportedly analysing samples along the beach, although word had seemingly not reached the kids on the beach.
