USA: Trump lambasts FBI Director and 'stupid impeachment' during Pennsylvania rally

United States, Hershey
December 11, 2019 at 08:37 GMT +00:00 · Published

US President Donald Trump decried the ongoing impeachment proceedings once again at an election campaign event in Hershey, Pennsylvania on Tuesday.

Addressing his supporters, Trump said, "They are embarrassed by the impeachment. And our poll numbers have gone through the roof because of her [Nancy Pelosi's] stupid impeachment."

A Trump detractor waving a protest sign was also ejected from the campaign at the behest of the President.

Trump further attacked FBI Director Christopher Wray in the wake of the recently released Justice Department inspector general's report on the FBI counterintelligence investigation into alleged links between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Trump said, "They spied on our campaign OK? They spied. Never happened before in the history of our country and we are really wise to it, we're wise to it. The inspector general found that the FBI's spying application contains 17 errors and omissions, commonly known as lies and deceit, when the FBI and they have great people in the FBI but not in leadership."

The report, which was released on Monday, concluded the investigation into Trump's 2016 campaign was legally justified and unbiased, but also mentioned inaccuracies and mistakes in surveillance warrants.
