European Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas and commissioner Ylva Johansson arrived in Berlin on Wednesday, for a meeting with German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer to discuss EU's new agreement on migration.

According to Schinas, this the second time in 10 days that they are meeting with Seehofer.

"We're here to make sure that this time we get it right. Especially when we are preparing the EU pact for asylum and migration, which we'll be presenting next spring," added Schinas.

Commissioner Johansson expressed EU's need to "manage migration orderly," specifying that "it's time for a more cooled down debate, being more pragmatic, finding compromises."

"We need to be in control of migration so that we can welcome those who are in need of international protection, and also others who will come on legal pathways to contribute to European economy by working here for example," said Johansson.

Schinas and Johansson are expected to visit EU capitals to prepare the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, to better understand the positions of the member states.
