Mexico: AMLO offers 4,000 jobs on southern border to migrant caravan members

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said there are 4,000 jobs on the country's southern border and that they are available to members of the migrant caravan that is heading to the country at a press conference in Mexico City on Friday.

“We have more than four thousand jobs available there on the southern border, of course shelters and medical care, everything, but work in our country, that's what's offered,” he said

Lopez Obrador added that the opportunity is also for Mexican citizens, since his ideal is "full employment, work for everyone. Work and the right to work, both are guaranteed."

The massive caravans of migrants trying to reach the United States began in late 2018. On September 25, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan announced that they had signed a migration agreement with Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador to contain the number of people trying to enter the United States.
