Italy: ‘IBU probably really wants it’ - Loginov considers ending career following raids *AUDIO*

Russian biathlete Alexander Loginov said he is considering ending his career in the wake of the police searches that took place in Italy on Saturday morning shortly before the start of the IBU (International Biathlon Union) World Championships Men's Relay.

"By doing so, let's say, they are trying to speed up the process of ending my career. So, if it’ll be better for everyone, it probably should be done soon. I'm not getting any younger anymore, so maybe it will really just make someone feel comfortable. IBU probably really wants it that way," Loginov told reporters in Rasen-Antholz on Saturday.

The Russian sportsman maintains his innocence in the wake of the raids, which were carried out amid a probe into possible doping violations. "I did nothing, I didn't use anything. I didn’t even have a thought like that, I have contempt for all [of this] in principle," the athlete said.

What worries Loginov the most, he said, is that he can't contact his family since the police took from him his phone and computer.

Alexander Loginov said he also believes that additional suspicions regarding his coach, Alexander Kasperovich, over his alleged use of “someone else’s accreditation” are "unsubstantiated assumptions."
