
Kyrgyzstan: Putin meets India's Modi in Bishkek
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met for bilateral talks in Bishkek on Thursday, ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
At the beginning of the meeting, Putin congratulated his Indian colleague "on the victory of your party in the elections, on the convincing victory and on your election again to the post of Prime Minister of India."
Modi on his part noted that Putin in a way predicted his election victory: "Your faith and confidence, as a close friend of yours, means a lot to me. I want to sincerely thank you for it."
The prime minister also thanked the Russian leader for supporting the launch of a Kalashnikov manufacture plant in India.
The 19th SCO summit takes place from June 13-14 in the Kyrgyz capital.
