Argentina: Macri launches election campaign in capital
Argentine President Mauricio Macri rallied with thousands of his supporters in Barrancas de Belgrano, Buenos Aires on Saturday, where he kicked off his election campaign.
Macri's supporters exhibited numerous national flags and symbols, as well as the campaign slogan: "Yes, we can."
"I know that you, the middle class, were the ones who made the greatest effort. I want to tell you that I listened to you, that I took note, that I understood you," said Macri, speaking on a podium.
"To be here this battle, to defend these ideas is worth it because this is our country, this is our future, and this is our way of life. That's why I tell you that we can do it, yes we can, yes we can," he added.
Macri is expected to hold rallies in 30 cities across the country, in 30 days.
The first round of the 2019 Argentine general election is set to take place on October 27, whereas the second round on November 24.
