Libya: Offensive on Tripoli will be 'final decisive battle' - LNA spokesperson

April 23, 2019 at 12:27 (GMT) · Published

The Libyan National Army (LNA) offensive on Tripoli is building towards a "final decisive battle," according to LNA spokesperson Ahmed Mismari, speaking at a press conference in Benghazi on Monday.

The announcement comes three weeks after LNA commander General Khalifa Haftar ordered troops to seize the nation’s capital, prompting forces loyal to the internationally-recognised government to launch a counter-offensive.

The conflict’s death toll has reached 254, with 1228 people suffering injuries, according to the World Health Organisation.
